Bedil Island: Hidden Paradise at the Eastern Tip of Java

Banyuwangi, a regency located at the eastern tip of Java Island, is once again presenting a natural tourist destination that captivates the hearts of travelers. Bedil Island, located in the waters of Pancer, Sumberagung Village, Pesanggaran District, is a new favorite for lovers of marine beauty.

Surrounded by exotic small island clusters, Bedil Island presents stunning natural panoramas. From Puncak Kemuning, one of the highest points around Bedil Island, visitors can witness a view that is often compared to “Banyuwangi’s Raja Ampat”.

“Bedil Island has extraordinary potential. Here is a complete package, there is nature tourism, underwater, adventure, education, marine, culinary, and others. This kind of nature tourism destination continues to be developed in Banyuwangi,” said Banyuwangi Regent, Ipuk Fiestiandani, when visiting Bedil Island on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

The sea water around Bedil Island has a bluish green gradation that is pleasing to the eye. Various activities can be done here, from swimming in the calm lagoon, snorkeling to peek at the underwater biota, to simply relaxing and enjoying the view of the vast Indian Ocean.

Regent Ipuk even felt the freshness of the water in the Bedil Island lagoon. “I want to linger here. Come and enjoy the beauty directly,” said Ipuk.

To reach Bedil Island, tourists need to travel by land for about two hours from the center of Banyuwangi City to Mustika Beach, Pancer. From there, the journey continues by boat for 15-20 minutes.

Bedil Island is a favorite among tourists, especially during long holidays such as Waisak Day. Many domestic and foreign tourists come to enjoy its natural beauty.

“The view is amazing, no less beautiful than Raja Ampat and Labuan Bajo,” said Imelda, a tourist from Toledo, Ternate, who came with her family.

Tommy Kurniawan, a tourist from Surabaya, was also impressed by the beauty of Bedil Island. “Yesterday we finished at Ijen, and now we’re going to Bedil Island. From the mountains to the beaches, everything is cool! After here we plan to go to De Djawatan Forest,” he said.

After being satisfied exploring Bedil Island, tourists can return to Mustika Beach to enjoy fresh seafood dishes that are mouth-watering. Various restaurants around the beach serve a variety of seafood choices to fill your stomach after a day of adventure.

Bedil Island is a tourist destination that offers natural beauty that is still pristine and has not been touched by many. With all its charm, Bedil Island is worthy of being your next vacation destination.**
