Kawah Ijen
Indonesia’s Kawah Ijen Volcano, on the island of Java, has two of the most unusual occurrences on Earth. The first is an active solfatara that emits hot, flammable sulfurous gases. These ignite as they enter Earth’s oxygen-rich atmosphere and burn with an electric blue flame. Some of the gas condenses in the atmosphere to produce flows of molten sulfur that also burn with an electric blue flame. The flames are difficult to see during the day but illuminate the landscape at night.
The second occurrence is a one-kilometer-wide caldera lake filled with turquoise-blue water. The color of the water is a result of its extreme acidity and high concentration of dissolved metals. It is the world’s largest highly acidic lake with a measured pH as low as 0.5. The cause of its acidity is an inflow of hydrothermal waters charged with gases from a hot magma chamber below.
Bromo Ijen Tour Detail Program
Day 01. Surabaya (airport/hotel) – Cemara Lawang
Bromo Ijen Blue fire Tour 3 day 2 Night | We pick you up at your hotel or the airport in Surabaya (Juanda Airport). We drive in approximately four hours to the village of Cemara Lawang. We overnight in the Bromo area to stay in a hotel overlooking the landscape and volcano Bromo.
Day 02. Mount Bromo sunrise tour – Ijen | Bromo Ijen tour
You will be wakened up at 03.00 a.m., and have a cup of coffee or tea before we leave for a short drive – 40 minutes – to Pananjakan, the highest viewpoint in the area to see the sunrise. But, of course, whether you can see the sunrise depends on the weather conditions. Then we will descend to the Sea of Sand to see the crater of mount Bromo.
Afterward, we go back to the hotel to have breakfast. After that, we continue our trip and drive around 4 hours to Pasir Putih Beach to have lunch at a beachside restaurant.
Hereafter, we drive for another 3 hours before we arrive at the village Sempol/Blawan (Ijen area) to pass the night. You have time to explore the surroundings and spend some leisure time in the hotel if you like. There is, among others, a hot spring in the area.
Day 03. Ijen trekking – Surabaya |Bromo Ijen tour
Around 01:00 am, the Ijen expedition team will bring you to the parking area of Mount Ijen, around 50 minutes from the hotel. This trip crossed the arabica coffee plantation. After arrival at the parking area, continued trekking to the Ijen crater it’s needed around 1.5 until 2 hours. trekking to the Ijen crater about 3Km ( 2.386m ). enjoying the wonderful blue fire/blue flame and acid lake.
After sunrise, the Ijen expedition team will bring you back to the parking area, on the way you can see the beautiful panorama and the sulfur miners. Around 1 hour you will arrive di the parking area, where you can drink some coffee or tea after that we continue to drive back to Surabaya with the same route road to Ijen. and the tour program finishes.

Day 02 : Bromo Penanjakan sunrise – Banyuwangi
At 3:00 AM the 4WD (JEEP) will bring you to the world’s most famous viewpoint at Mount Pananjakan on the rim of the Tengger caldera to see sunrise with its young volcanic including Mount Bromo and an active Mount Semeru in the background is breathtaking the play light shadow with sunrise reach Mountain succession from the top to the bottom and the usual fog of the caldera. Day 03 : Ijen crater – Surabaya or Bali
At 01:00 AM, our driver will take you to Paltuding (the start point of Ijen Crater). From the Park, the Ranger post starts the 90-minutes hike to Ijen Crater. The stunning unveils at 2. 383 meters altitude. The lake’s eerie color and smoke wafting from bright yellow sulfur deposits create an amazing landscape.
Sulfur miners carry up to 80 kilograms of ores in the bamboo basket on their shoulders, climbing up along the treacherous path. After exploring Ijen Crater, We will drive back to your hotel for breakfast and check out, then directly drive to Bali.

A Jeep ride for about 1 hour to the sunrise view of Mount Penanjakan is a ride to get excited too. As long as the weather is nice and the sky is clear there will always be a golden sunrise to watch and capture. The background of the view includes the tip of Mount Batok, Mount Bromo, and Mount Semeru just above the beautiful sea of clouds.
Sunrise view ends at 6.30 AM before moving on to the next attraction on the second day of the 3-day Mount Bromo Tumpak Sewu waterfall tour. The next thing to witness is the living volcano crater of Mount Bromo. It takes serious endurance to walk the 250 steps in an uphill direction. The destination is the crater’s ridge at the top to view Bromo’s crater below. Both the view and the sound are crazy out there. Day 03 : Tumpak Sewu Waterfall | Bromo Ijen tour

The last day of the tour starts at 6.30 AM after breakfast. Preparation is needed to embark on a journey to witness the beauty of the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. It starts by trekking the beautiful tropical landscape of Mount Semeru another volcano in the area. It takes about 10 minutes of trekking to reach the point where the silky-looking waterfall is visible from above.
The trekking continues passing through rivers, steep hills, and down paths for about 30 minutes before reaching the legendary Tumpak Sewu waterfall. Enjoying the ambiance around the waterfall is incomparable. The area is so natural with the freshness of water from the waterfall. All things there must be done eventually to continue the journey to a cave called Goa Tetes close by. The Ijen Crater | Bromo Ijen Tour
Ijen crater is a large upland area that includes the peaks and foothills of Mt.Ijen, Mt.Raung, Mt.Suket and Mt.Merapi plus several smaller peaks. The highlight of this area is Ijen crater lake, a large crater lake atop a dormant volcano.
The colour of the lake is astonishing. A combination of the yellow sulfur and the brownish-red rocks surrounding makes a beautiful blue-greenish lake. There is some access to the crater, but most people start to hike from Pal Tuding. From this point, we need to hike for 3km or 90mins uphill through the forest.
Mount Bromo | Bromo Ijen Tour
Mount Bromo is one of Indonesia´s most breathtaking sights. Among the major peaks in Indonesia, Mt. Bromo is located 2.392m high above sea level. Mt. Bromo is apart of Tengger – Semeru National Park. The steaming cone of Bromo stands in a sea of ashen, volcanic sand, surrounded by the towering cliffs of the crater´s edge.
There are some peaks at this national park, and Mt. Semeru is the highest peak and one of the most active volcanoes. Mt. Bromo is reachable by walking down the crater wall and across the desert for about 3km to the slopes of Bromo.

Day 03: Ijen Volcano | Bromo Ijen tour
At 12.30 am, We will pick you up and take you to the slope of Mount Ijen, passing through plantations and rainforest. This is one of the few remaining on the island of Java with giant ferns and plants, big trees, this journey takes approximately 1,5 hours from the hotel. Arriving at the parking area of Mount Ijen.
Approximately 1 to 1.5 hours will be required to ascend the slope of mount Ijen to reach the peak of Ijen Crater and along the path, You will enjoy the stunning natural scenery with fresh air & shade.
Resting on the edge of the crater at an altitude of 2883 meters and enjoy the best panorama of the lake of sulphate where reflects spectacular view in the surrounding walls to give the impression of doom.
The sulfur mining workers go down into the crater and climb back up by passing a dangerous path on the edge of Ijen Crater with a load as much as 80 kilograms on their shoulders. You will also enjoy the beautiful scenery in the crater of Ijen as one of God’s amazing creation.
